Professor Ray spent two decades as a principal software reliability architect at major engineering firms, battling catastrophic production outages, distributed race conditions, and over-hyped tech fads. After burning out from corporate politics, he accepted a university chair to teach what textbooks rarely cover: how to build resilient software, how to learn from spectacular failures, and how to stay grounded. Outside the lecture hall, he reads vintage locked-room mystery novels, attempts complicated French recipes with hilariously mixed results, and lives with Bug, a one-eared stray cat he rescued from a university server room.
